Just art you say? Well head on over to Salon91 where you get to explore the contemporary side of South Africa’s creatives. A boutique-style gallery, this space is compassionate about expanding the sense of what local talent is about.
Hosting creators of contemporary art, illustration and design, it’s not about hosting new and upcoming talent, but rather showcasing what has previously been unseen and unrecognized.
Salon – loosely translated to mean ‘a meeting of like minded people’ – is significant for this space. The name Salon together with its location – 91 Kloof Street – and the inspiration of Paris Salon (first official art exhibition of the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, 1725) sits perfectly.
Since its inception in 2008, this space has served as a platform for upcoming South African artists to gain exposure through sharing their creativity & vision. The gallery offers seasoned collectors & first-time buyers unique investment opportunities into the emerging South African art market, coupled with service that is personalized, friendly & professional. Our intimate gallery space, central location, and the accessible nature of the works on show, allow for a relaxed atmosphere where viewers can enjoy a broad range of artworks & further their understanding and appreciation of art. Exhibitions rotate every three to four weeks, keeping things fresh and exciting.
The gallery team will gladly assist private collectors, architects, new buyers, and corporate clients, alike, in sourcing the perfect artwork for any space or budget. Site visits, framing, viewings of artists’ portfolios, and commissions can also be arranged on request. We are constantly updating our inventory with great new submissions…\
